Permanent Hair Removal Men
It’s not surprising that men are into permanent hair removal treatments, too. Long before women have thought of plucking unruly eyebrows, men had already been shaving their beards off regularly.
Many careers require clean-shaven, such as the case with models and athletes. Excessive hair can be embarrassing. Hygiene can also be compromised with too much hair, especially when combined with sweating. Hair removal has, therefore, become a necessity.
With today’s hectic schedule, though, it is highly unlikely that anyone still has time to shave or pluck excessive hair on a regular basis. Besides, men have to deal with additional concerns brought about by shaving, such as the five-o-clock shadow, ingrown hair, razor burns and red bumps.
Conventional methods including tweezing, waxing, depilatory creams and plucking are time-consuming and ineffective. They have to be repeated regularly that it’s so frustrating.
What options are there for men’s permanent hair removal?
Advances in technology have brought several options for permanent hair removal.
Electrolysis is one. It is an invasive procedure that involves the insertion of needle-like probes into individual hair follicles. Electric current is sent through these probes to destroy the follicles and inhibit their ability to grow hair. The therapy effectively removes unwanted hair, but is a painful, time-consuming, and expensive one. Since it entails treatment of hair follicle one by one, it is impractical for large areas. It will also take more than a year to see results.
We have two of the latest technologies available for permanent hair reduction – IPL and Laser. These therapies are highly preferred because of the following:
- They are non-invasive procedures; thus, are virtually painless and cause only the slightest discomfort, if at all.
- The results are permanent. Both methods use heat energy from light to cause damage on hair follicles and reduce hair growth in the long term.
The procedures are quick and easy; there is no downtime.
What is IPL and how does it work in removing hair permanently?
IPL, or intense pulsed light, is delivered from a flash lamp using advanced IPL device. The beam emits broad-spectrum light with wavelengths ranging from 500nm to 1200nm. This wide range allows IPL to be used in several applications in the cosmetic industry, including permanent hair removal.
As light is pulsed, it penetrates the skin and targets melanin. Melanin occurs in both hair and skin. Since hair is more pigmented than skin, it absorbs pulsed light more significantly. Light then converts to heat and destroys the hair-producing cells in the follicles.
IPL is recommended for clients with dark hair and fair skin, where there is a contrast between the color of the hair and the skin. For very dark-skinned individuals, IPL is not recommended and laser hair removal may be an alternative.
How does laser hair removal treatment work?
The light from lasers uses a single wavelength or color, and has a very specific target. Laser light targets the melanin in the hair without damaging the skin. As it is absorbed through the hair shaft, light converts to heat and destroys the hair follicles. Men and women of all skin types, including those with darker skin can be safely and effectively treated by laser hair removal. Laser is suitable for those who can’t be treated by IPL.
What areas are frequently requested by men for permanent hair removal therapies?
How much time is needed for a treatment session?
The time it takes to complete a session depends on the treatment area and size. Hair on a man’s face will take about 15 minutes to treat. A full back of hair will take about 30 minutes.
How many treatment sessions are required?
All follicles undergo dormant and active growth phases. At the time of treatment, light only targets hair follicles in the active growth phase. As dormant hair follicles proceed to the growth phase, treatment must be repeated to affect these hair follicles. For a permanent result, multiple treatments is necessary to ensure all hair follicles have been affected or destroyed. We will assess your condition, review your progress, and advise you the total treatment sessions required to achieve optimal results. Our clients normally undergo an average 6-10 treatments sessions at 4-6 weeks interval.
What can I expect?
You can expect permanent hair reduction and long term hair removal on the treated body area.
How much does a complete therapy cost?
The total price will depend on the number of treatments required and the treatment area. For a more accurate estimate, it is best to come for a personal consultation with us. We conduct a thorough assessment of the clients’ condition and recommend the best type of hair removal treatment. Call our number now for an appointment.
Are the procedures painful?
People have different thresholds for pain, and most of our clients can tolerate the discomfort. They generally associate their experience to certain sensations that are slightly uncomfortable but not really painful. We strive to make the procedures as comfortable to the clients as possible. Cooling gels are applied to soothe the skin. Cooling systems are also integrated into the devices to provide continuous flow of cool air as light beams are pulsed.
What are the side effects and how long is the downtime?
There are practically no side effects. Clients may notice redness or mild skin irritations. These are normal skin reactions and normally subside in a few hours within the day.
Clients typically don’t experience any downtime. Right after a treatment, they can go back to their work or home routines as usual. We can schedule appointments to the convenience of our clients.
